Youth hockey teams fare well in Crested Butte, Gunnison

The Glenwood Grizzlies youth hockey teams had successful outings south of Independence Pass against West Elk Hockey of Crested Butte and Gunnison this past weekend.

The Grizzlies Squirt Silver squad improved to 2-4-0 with wins of 4-3 and 5-1. The Squirt Purple team also earned its first wins of the year, winning 7-0 and 7-1.

Also winning was the Glenwood Bantam Black team, which improved to 6-0-1 with wins by scores of 5-1 and 5-2. The Glenwood Pee Wee Silver team improved to 6-0-0 by winning 9-1 and 6-0, and the Pee Wee Black squad won its three weekend games by a combined 24-0, winning by scores of 7-0, 7-0 and 10-0.

The Glenwood Springs Youth Hockey Association will host a three-day tournament, which is scheduled for Friday through Sunday at the Glenwood Springs Community Center Ice Rink. Information about the tournament can be found at
