The Silt U14 girls soccer team rebounded from an earlier loss to the Glenwood Ice to down the Ice 3-1 in the championship game of the Glenwood Tournament recently at the Gates Soccer Fields on the Colorado Mountain College-Spring Valley campus.

Silt lost to Glenwood in the opening game but had no problem bouncing back for wins against North Fork and the New Castle Pride to earn a spot in the title game and a second chance against the Ice.

The Silt players now head to Denver for the Colorado Rapids MLS game against Los Angeles on Sunday to take part in the parade of champions.

Buoyed by six goals in four games from Corey Gera, the Glenwood Ice U11 girls soccer team took second place in the Glenwood Tournament recently.

The U11 squad went 2-1-1 in the tournament, dropping their only game in the championship against the Glenwood Ice U12 team, 3-2. The U11s went up 2-0 before the U12 team scored three goals in the second half for the victory.

The U11 Ice opened the tournament with a 2-2 tie against the Basalt Rocks and shut out Westminster and the Explosion Gold of Thornton by identical 4-0 margins.

Along with Gera, Holly Brown had a solid offensive tournament with three goals. Josie Pearson, Hope Whitman and Michaela Mansfield also had goals.
