Youth Soccer Weekly Report

Four players scored goals for the Glenwood Hot Heads in a 4-2, U12 girls victory over Rifle in the season-opener for both teams last weekend. Breanna Gabossi opened the scoring for the Hot Heads with additional goals from Cora Lubchenco, Mollie Podmore and Danielle Turley.

Halley Keating scored an unassisted goal in the first half, then the defense took control as the Carbondale Bobcats bested the Silt Crusaders, 1-0, in a U18 girls match played Saturday. Goalkeeper Megan Olenick earned the shutout with assists from teammates Shawn Clapper, Paige Nehasil and Eden Ferry.

Carbondale hosts a team from Montrose on Sept. 17 at River Valley Ranch.

The Glenwood Ice U12 girls raised their seasonal record to 3-0 in league play on a 5-0 shutout victory over the Boulder Force Tar Heels Sunday at Gates Soccer Park. Michaela Mansfield led Glenwood’s attack with three goals, two coming in the first half.

Holly Brown and Hope Whitman also scored goals. The Ice continue league action this weekend in Denver with games against the Colorado Storm Blue and the Colorado Rush Roadrunners.
