Four separate All Star teams, representing Three Rivers Little League baseball, are scheduled to open district tournament play this afternoon.

Three Rivers will have two 9-to-10 year-old All Star teams and a Major Boys All Star team competing in District 1 tournament games at the Grand Mesa Little League complex in Grand Junction.

Along with Three Rivers, District 1 consists of All Star teams from the Grand Mesa, Orchard Mesa and Monument Little Leagues of Grand Junction, Fruita-Redlands, Cortez and Palisade.

The oldest of Three Rivers’ All Stars teams – the Major Boys – open tournament play in Grand Junction first.

The team of 11-to 12 year-olds squares off against host Grand Mesa at 5:30 p.m. this afternoon.

At 8 p.m., Three Rivers’ 9-10 “B” team faces the Monument All Stars in a first-round contest.

The Three Rivers “A” 9-10 boys team has a bye in the first round.

They begin tournament play at 8 p.m. Wednesday evening against Fruita-Redlands.

The Three Rivers Junior Boys All Stars, whose roster consists of 13- to 14 year old boys from Basalt, Carbondale, Glenwood Springs and El Jebel, travels to Cortez for their tournament.

They will play the Monument All Stars at 5:30 p.m. this afternoon. The winner plays Cortez in a winners’ bracket game on Tuesday.
