Zeigel leads Roaring Fork in Steamboat Springs

Arick Zeigel led Roaring Fork to a season-low team score at Wednesdays Steamboat Sailors Invitational boys golf tournament.Zeigel, a senior, shot an 9-over-par 81 at Haymaker Golf Course to lead the Rams. Thats right around his average.Thomas Cerise shot a 97 and Tanner Wood a 98 to round out Roaring Forks top three and its team score of 276.Freshman Danny Bartels had a personal-best round of 85 to pace Rifle. In his first time playing at Haymaker, no less.Hes a freshman, so that definitely gives him some courage and confidence for next season, said Bears coach Mark Fergen, whose team shot a 266.Rifle senior Klayton Costanzo, banged up from a recent all-terrain vehicle (ATV) accident, had to withdraw after eight holes. He hopes to play with the team at todays Moffat County High School-hosted tournament at Yampa Valley Golf Course.Coal Ridge and Grand Valley were also in attendance in Steamboat. Their scores were not available at press time.Glenwood Springs, Roaring Fork, Rifle and Coal Ridge all have todays tournament at Yampa listed on their schedules.
