Zerbato paces Three Rivers at District 1 tournament

CORTEZ – Zach Zerbato pitched five innings of one-hit baseball and went 3-for-3 from the plate to pace the Three Rivers All-Stars 13-14 team to an 11-3 victory over Monument in the first round of the District 1 Little League Tournament at Cortez Middle School on Monday.Along with Zerbato, Tim Cashel and Mike Sommers also had 3-for-3 days. Three Rivers led 3-1 until exploding for six runs in the fifth inning. Beau Chicoine and Rory Johnson each pitched an inning in relief to secure the victory.Chicoine will take the mound again today as Three Rivers faces home-standing Cortez, which had a bye in the opening round, today at 3 p.m. -In the 11-12 age group District 1 tournament held in Monument, Three Rivers fell 13-3 to Grand Mesa. Three Rivers drops to the elimination bracket for an 8 p.m. game on Wednesday. No other information was available.
