Bonedale’s Halloween Spooktacular 

What: Head to Carbondale for a collaborative Halloween celebration supporting the Crystal Theatre Alliance, Thunder River Theatre Company and KDNK Community Radio. The Spooktacular includes a costume contest, costume dance party — featuring Mugsy Fay, Sweet Jessup and the Dirty Buckets and KDNK DJs — and a screening of the Rocky Horror Picture Show at the Crystal Theatre with the Roaring Fork Divas. A Rocky Horror Picture Show goodie bag is included. 



When: 7 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 31

Día de los Muertos: U-Paint-It Calavera Party

What: Head to the Carbondale Clay Center for a free, bilingual u-paint-it-party. Paint a Day of the Dead-inspired clay figure for an ofrenda with underglaze paints. The Clay Center will fire the pieces, which will be ready for pick-up during the Día de los Muertos First Friday in Carbondale on Nov. 7. 

When: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1

Día de Muertos Community Ofrenda

What: Honor and celebrate loved ones at the Powers Art Center’s traditional Día de Muertos ofrenda. Create paper marigolds for the ofrenda in the center’s Learning Lab and bring momentos or photos to add to the community altar. 

When: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Nov. 1

Día de los Muertos – Pot Luck 

What: Join Monica Muñiz at the Third Street Center for a Día de los Muertos potluck. Bring a dish that honors something or someone and an item for the communal altar and celebrate connection, community and remembrance. 

When:5:30-7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1

Where: Third Street Center, 520 South Third St., Carbondale

How much: Free 

Day of the Dead Bread Making 

What: Head to Carbondale’s Third Street Center for another Day of the Dead celebration. From 10 a.m. to noon, visitors can bake their own Day of the Dead bread using provided ingredients while sipping hot cocoa among friends and neighbors. 

When: 10 a.m. to noon Sunday, Nov. 2

All the President’s Men – Special Showing 

What: Enjoy a special showing of “All the President’s Men” a day before Election Day at the Crystal Theatre. The film documents the Washington Post’s coverage of the Watergate scandal and stars Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman as investigative journalists Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein. 

When: 7-9 p.m. Monday, Nov. 3

Mountain Valley Developmental Services Sneaker Drive

What: Mountain Valley Developmental Services is raising money for its day programs in Glenwood Springs, Silt and Minturn through an athletic shoe drive fundraiser. MVDS will earn money based on how many pairs of used, gently worn and new sneakers are collected from Friday, Oct. 10 to Nov. 11. Through the sneaker recycling organization GotSneakers, sneakers not approved for resale will be recycled.

Artful Adventures

What: Bring your child to the Glenwood Springs Community Art Center for creative adventures each early release Wednesday. Children ages 11 to 17 can learn new techniques, build their artistic skills and explore new materials throughout the 11 session program. 

When: 2:30-4:30 p.m. every Wednesday until Dec. 17, except for Nov. 26. 

Where: Community Art Center, 601 E. Sixth St., Glenwood Springs

How much: $220 for all 11 classes. 

Karaoke Night

What: Head to the Black Nugget for a weekly karaoke night every Wednesday. Sip a crafted cocktail and enjoy the show, or grab the professional microphone and take a turn in the spotlight.

First Friday – 21st Celebration of Día de los Muertos

What: Head to downtown Carbondale for the 21st celebration of Día de los Muertos. November’s First Friday will feature a community procession, face painting and performances by Aspen Santa Fe Ballet Folklórico, Roaring Fork Youth Orchestra, Mezcla Socials Dance and more. 

When: 5-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7
