Aspen Snowmass has released a first look at the lift ticket artwork for the winter 2025-26 season, featuring internationally-acclaimed artist Ed Ruscha.

“With Opening Day now less than a month away and lots of exciting developments nearing completion at Snowmass, there’s an undeniable energy building across our team and our mountains,” Susan Cross, vice president of Mountain Operations for Aspen Skiing Company, shared in a statement to The Aspen Times. “We are also excited to release our lift ticket art today — featuring this year’s partnership with world-renowned artist Ed Ruscha — and continue the long tradition of sharing Art in Unexpected Places across our mountains and community.”

Aspen Snowmass has been adorning Aspen cards, lift tickets, and season passes with works from contemporary artists for 20 years, according to the Aspen Snowmass website. Aspen One’s Art in Unexpected Places program launched in 2005, with a mission to exhibit the works of contemporary artists across the resort.

“The program is grounded in the belief that artistic works should be accessible and universal — cutting across class, race, and politics — and celebrates contemporary art’s spirit of spontaneity,” the Aspen Snowmass website states.

Previous artists include Takashi Murakami, FriendsWithYou, Hank Willis Thomas, Yutaka Sone, Carla Klein, Mamma Andersson, Mark Grotjahn, and more.

“As one of the most influential contemporary artists of our time, Ruscha’s work is thought provoking and boundary-pushing,” Aspen One CEO Dave Tanner said in a previous article published by The Aspen Times announcing Ruscha as the featured artist.

Lift tickets will be available for pickup locally starting Nov. 5.

“So go pick up your pass, dust off your ski gear, and join us in doing those snow dances as our winter season approaches!” Cross said. “We can’t wait to see everyone at Aspen and Snowmass on Thanksgiving Day as we kick off another remarkable season.”
