A new Barnes & Noble bookstore will officially open in Glenwood Springs on Wednesday, Nov. 5, according to an Oct. 29 news release.

Located in the former Bed, Bath & Beyond building at Glenwood Meadows, the 23,000- square-foot store will offer books, games, toys, magazines and more — including a B&N Café.

“Opening the Glenwood Springs Barnes and Noble is a true professional milestone,” Erik Gabbett, Glenwood Springs store manager and Barnes & Noble bookseller of 26 years, said in the release. “I’m excited to build a new team and create an inviting space for discovery. Most of all, I look forward to seeing the store become a gathering place where readers, families, and the community connect and grow together.”

Local author Kylee Marshall will lead a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9 a.m. Wednesday before signing copies of her debut memoir, “Of Dirt and Wildflowers: A Memoir on Growing the Courage to Bloom.”

The new store will offer grand opening deals, including $50 off any NOOk device and 40% off all DVD, Blu-ray and 4k Ultra HD movies, according to the release.

Barnes & Noble Premium and Rewards members will earn double stamps on all purchases made during the grand opening and can also enjoy a free hot coffee or tea.

After more than 15 years of declining store numbers, Barnes and Noble is experiencing “tremendous growth as the strategy to hand control of each bookstore to its local booksellers has proven so successful,” the release states.

In 2024, the company opened more new bookstores than it had from 2009 to 2019, with more than 60 additional locations expected in 2025. The Glenwood Springs store is just one of 14 new Barnes & Noble locations opening nationwide in November, including stores in California, Texas and Florida.

“As we open new bookstores at a pace not seen in decades, it is especially fulfilling to bring Barnes and Noble to communities we have yet to serve,” James Daunt, CEO of Barnes and Noble, said in the release. “For years the closest Barnes & Noble has been nearly 90 miles away and we’re delighted to bring this beautiful new bookstore to the readers of Glenwood Springs and surrounding towns.”
