2 Colorado resorts see 6-plus inches of snow in overnight storm
No opening days reported yet from Arapahoe Basin, Keystone, Loveland or Winter Park
A storm system passed through Colorado’s mountains overnight on Thursday, dropping early-season snow on many resorts along the I-70 corridor into Friday morning.
West of the divide, Beaver Creek Resort recorded about 8 inches on its snow stake cam. Up the road, Vail Mountain recorded about 6 inches.
Vail Mountain will open on Nov. 14 and Beaver Creek will open on Nov. 26.
Summit County resorts saw less accumulation, with Copper Mountain getting about 2 inches according to its snow stake cam.
Loveland boasted 3 inches according to its website, while Keystone reported “a few inches” on social media Friday morning.
Arapahoe Basin logged 2 inches of snow, according to its website.
A-Basin stated in a social post on Friday that there is no official opening day yet, but skiers and riders should get their equipment ready. Keystone and Loveland are in the same boat, saying they’ll open as soon as conditions allow.
Breckenridge didn’t report official amounts as of 10:30 a.m. Friday
Aspen and Snowmass mountains saw about 2 inches of snowfall by Friday morning, according to snow stake recordings.
Further north, Winter Park and Steamboat saw no more than a sprinkle of snow at their summits, according to the resorts’ snow stake cameras.
