Firefighters battling 2-acre brush fire near Silt

Firefighters continue to battle a four-acre brush fire in the Gibson Gulch and Divide Creek area just south of Silt. Officials have yet to determine the cause of the fire, which began Wednesday.

Crews are battling a two-acre brush fire in the Gibson Gulch and Divide Creek area south of Silt, according to a Colorado River Fire Rescue (CRFR) Facebook post. The blaze, dubbed the Gibson Gulch Fire, started this afternoon and has prompted a significant response, including aerial attack.

CRFR and Upper Colorado River Interagency Fire Management Unit are on the scene. Unified Command has been established due to the fire’s proximity to private lands. Engines, handcrews, and aircraft have been ordered to assist in the firefighting efforts. Air support is being called in to help control the fire. 

Residents in nearby areas are advised to stay alert and follow any instructions from local authorities. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
