UPDATE 10 P.M.: The flash flood watch has expired.

Original story:

With heavy rainfall in the forecast, a flash flood watch is in effect for the Grizzly Creek burn scar until 10 p.m. tonight, the National Weather Service states.

“Residents near the Grizzly Creek Fire Burn Area should prepare for potential flooding impacts. Be sure to stay up to date with information from local authorities. Heavy rainfall could trigger flash flooding of low-lying areas, urbanized street flooding, and debris flows in and near recent wildfire burn scars,” the weather alert states.

The flood watch increases the potential for Interstate 70 to close through Glenwood Canyon. Standing water on the road surface resulted in about a three-hour closure earlier this week. For the most up-to-date traffic info, go to http://www.cotrip.org.
