Former Garfield County Sheriff’s Office employee arrested on embezzlement charges

The Garfield County Sheriff’s Office issued an arrest warrant for former Garfield County Sheriff’s Office Corporal Trish Worley on Tuesday by the Ninth Judicial District Attorney’s office.
Worley was placed on administrative leave in October, 2024 after being accused of embezzling funds from the Holy Cross Cattlemen’s Association, a local nonprofit. She turned herself into the sheriff’s office on Tuesday without incident and was booked into custody.
After an investigation by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation that revealed numerous transactions beginning in 2018 and continuing through 2024, and an internal investigation in the Garfield County Sheriff’s Department, was terminated in November.
Worley is alleged to have stolen funds from Garfield County and the Holy Cross Cattlemen’s Association totaling $74,000.
Worley’s bond was set for $25,000 and was able to bond out the same day. Worley has been charged with the following crimes:
- Theft in the amount of $5,000 to $20,000, a class five felony
- Theft in the amount of $20,000 t0 $100,000, a class four felony
- Embezzlement of public property, a class five felony
- Identity theft, a class four felony
- First degree official misconduct, a class one misdemeanor
