Charles Russell Anderson passed away February 22, 2026 at Grand River Medical Center. He was 79. Charles, known as Russ to his family, was born February 14, 1947 to Charles Emery and Helen (Stratton) Anderson in Provo, Utah. He is survived by his wife Karalue B. Anderson and six children: Tina Anderson, Carol Anderson (Gerrit), Carl B. Anderson (Robin), Molly A. Partin (Cooper), Natalie Kimball, James B. Anderson (Tish), and his two siblings Janae Jones and Alan Emery Anderson, 18 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren (+1 pending).
Russ grew up working on his family’s fruit farm in Utah. He served as an air traffic controller in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war. Russ worked hard to support his family. His jobs included brick-mason, coal miner, and heavy equipment operator. He loved time with his family. His children and grandchildren will fondly remember him for his home-brewed root beer and homemade ice cream. In his spare time Russ loved tinkering on his computer and reading. He especially loved the works of J.R.R. Tolkien, so much so that he read the Silmarillion so many times he actually started to understand it. Although he was a man of few words, he noticed everything. Russ was dearly loved and will be missed greatly by his family.
