Danny Lael Hughes, a lifetime Roaring Fork Valley native, born March 6, 1952 in Denver CO passed away peacefully on October 11, 2025 after an amazing life married to his high school sweetheart of 54 years Marian Hughes. Danny is the son of Lael and Charlotte (Clement) Hughes, had two sisters, Sherry Harris, Roxanne Hughes, brother to Randal Hughes, and half-brother to James Hughes. Danny has two loving children, Travis Hughes and Timothy Hughes (Dave Butterfield), grandchildren, Jessica Hughes and Stephanie Hughes, and a great grandchild, Jachob.

Danny Hughes loved his family dearly wanting to spend every moment possible with his wife, sons, and grandchildren. Danny enjoyed teaching generations how to work hard, drive about anything, and how to “keep a plugging” no matter how hard life became. He grew up with the excavation business in his blood working for Hughes Excavation since he was a teenager, along with his parents, siblings, children, cousins, and the rest of the crew. From operating backhoes, dozers, track hoes, back hoes, dump trucks, and any other piece of machinery needed to turn vacant land into a nice space to build on. In retirement Danny enjoyed traveling, his guns/reloading, and games on his I-Pad.

Dan is proceeded in death by his parents Charlotte (Clement) Hughes, Lael Hughes, his siblings, Sherry Harris and Roxanne Hughes.
