April 28, 1937 – May 19, 2026

Janet Gail Rippy passed away on May 19, 2026 from a tragic fall. She was 89 years young.
Janet was born in Meeker, Colo. on April 28, 1937. She was the seventh sibling out of nine. She would often share memories of her life growing up in a large family from a small town. In Meeker she met Harley Rippy when E.J. Rippy & Sons were building a bridge across the White River. They eloped to be married in Grand Junction, Colo. on June 22, 1953.
After several years of traveling and working throughout western Colorado with the family construction company, Harley and Janet settled on the Rippy ranch east of New Castle, Colo. They raised their family there and lived there up until a couple of months ago when they moved into a care center.
Janet loved cooking, gardening and quilting. She spent many, many hours making quilts for everyone. Most of all she loved being Mom and Grandma.
Janet was preceded in death by her son Lee Rippy, daughter Marie Rippy Keeling Cullinan, son Steve Rippy and great grandson Miles G. Rippy II. Loses so great, they each took away a piece of her heart.
She is survived by her husband Harley D. Rippy Sr., daughter Shari Phelps of Stilwell, Okla. and three sons, Dow (Nicole) Rippy of Silt, Colo., Miles (Teresa) Rippy of Glenwood Springs, Colo., Shayne Rippy of Grand Junction, Colo.; daughter-in-law Becky Rippy of New Castle, Colo.; sister Sandy Murray of Vernal, Utah; and her “other kids” Delmon(Frenchy) & Jenny French of Grand Junction, Colo.; fifteen grandchildren, LeAnn, Corey, Miranda, Savannah, Nick, Steven, Casey, Jeremy, Jared, Jesse, Danielle, Jimmy, Jacob, Troy and Scott; thirty-five great grandchildren, nine great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. All of whom she loved well.
Janet’s faith in Jesus guided her throughout her life. She was the spiritual rock of the family and we admired her for it. She loved the Lord, she lived her dash and she longed for her heavenly home. We rejoice that she is with Jesus and the loved ones that went before.
It was well known that Janet didn’t want a funeral service. There will be a family gathering at a later date to spread her ashes on the ranch she loved…she will be greatly missed.
