November 7, 1929 – November 21, 2023

Robert “Bob” Plush packed his 94 years with laughs, love, and stiff martinis before he took off on his final departure on November 21, 2023 in Glenwood Springs. Bob was born on November 7, 1929 in Beloit, KS, to Earl and Irene (nee. McElvain) Plush. Trained well in small-town hijinks by his older brother, Stanley, Bob found a love of airplanes and flight during his teen years in rural Kansas. He left his hometown of Glasco at 17 to pursue his education goals at Wyandotte High School in Kansas City, KS, and after graduation, Bob obtained a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University. After facing down the dangers of the Mediterranean Front in the Korean War (as Bob loved to say, tongue in cheek) while serving in the U.S. Navy, Bob moved to Boulder, CO, to pursue his engineering career. In January of 1960 while singing in the First United Methodist Church choir, Bob met Suzanne (Sue) Cain. Their first date was an after-dinner flight in Bob’s trusty Stinson airplane and they were married just six months later, an invincible marriage that lasted 62 years. In 1974 Sue and Bob moved from Boulder, with their two children Janet and David, to Glenwood Springs. Bob and Sue shared a love of music as evidenced by the vast collection of jazz and classical vinyl as well as many musical instruments at their home on Virginia Road. From St. Petersburg to Athens, Valdez to Bariloche, Sydney to Christchurch, Bob was always ready for an adventure with Sue by his side. Bob wore many hats during his 50 years in Glenwood, including computer teacher at the Glenwood Springs High School Vo-Tech campus, small business owner of Casey’ Auto Salvage in Rifle, sax player in local jazz bands, member of the model railroad club, civil air patrol, professional tinkerer and a long-time “helpful hardware man” at the old True Value Store that once stood on Grand Avenue. Bob will be deeply missed by his two children Janet Bodrogi (Peter) and David Plush (Mindi), grandsons Ian Bodrogi and Seth Plush, granddaughter Hannah Bodrogi, and beloved nieces and nephews in Missouri, Kansas and Washington.
