The Rotary Clubs of Aspen, Carbondale, Glenwood Springs, Glenwood Springs Sunset, Rifle and Snowmass Village have collectively invested $191,000 in scholarships supporting more than 70 local students for the 2026 graduating class.
The contributions help those students pursue higher education, technical training and career pathways, according to a press release. The scholarships are possible through ongoing fundraising efforts and what the press release calls “strong community support” that is behind each Rotary club. All the resources are generated from events, service projects and partnerships with local business and residents.
“This collaborative effort highlights the strength of Rotary in our region,” Maile Foster, district governor of Rotary District 5470, said in the release. “Each club contributes in its own way, and together, the impact is significant. This is an investment not only in students, but in the future of our communities.”
Rotary clubs throughout the Roaring Fork Valley prioritize youth development and education as a cornerstone of their service annually — the scholarship recipients are selected based on “leadership, academic achievement and a demonstrated commitment to service above self,” according to the release.
The clubs also provide ongoing service projects, community programs and fundraising efforts that directly impact local residents year-round.
“This joint initiative reflects Rotary’s ongoing commitment to supporting youth, strengthening communities and creating lasting change throughout the Roaring Fork Valley,” the release reads.
