Volunteer search and rescue groups in Colorado can apply for a total of $150,000 in grant funding from Rocky Talkie, according to a news release from the company.

Rocky Talkie, a Denver-based company that sells backcountry radios, has opened applications for its 2026 Search and Rescue Award through March 31, the release states. Volunteer search and rescue teams in the U.S. and Canada can apply for the grant funding in order to support essential gear, training and operational projects.

Since the program launched seven years ago, Rocky Talkie has donated $260,000 to 27 search and rescue teams, according to the release. The funds have helped purchase technical rescue equipment, avalanche and medical training, communication tools, rope systems, rigging gear and other needs identified by the teams.

The program is funded in part through Rocky Talkie’s pledge to donate $2 from every radio sold to search and rescue teams, the release states. Colorado search and rescue groups, including Chaffee County Search and Rescue, Summit County Rescue Group, Lake County Search and Rescue and Alpine Rescue Team, have been previous recipients of the award, according to the Rocky Talkie website.
