For two decades, David Lindenberg has been tirelessly dedicated to the Roaring Fork School District. The longtime educator spent over two decades working at RFSD, eight of which were spent as the Sopris Elementary School Principal.

Lindenberg will retire from his head of school position at the end of the 2024-25 year, RFSD announced in a news release on Monday.

“I have given my all to help prepare and grow our children to be engaged learners ready for the world and now it is time to hand the torch over to a new leader who will continue the passionate push to further this goal!,” Lindenberg said in his retirement announcement letter.

Lindenberg spent two decades working for the school district in multiple roles. From serving in various district offices to working across numerous schools, Lindenberg has left a lasting mark throughout the district.

“We are grateful for the lasting change and strong impact that Principal Lindenberg has led during his time at SES,” RFSD Assistant Superintendent Stacey Park said in the release. “Among many other accomplishments big and small, under Dave’s leadership the SES staff has achieved great gains in student achievement, including the prioritization of growth for emerging bilingual students.”

RFSD Superintendent Anna Cole expressed her gratitude towards Lindenberg and his time spent with the school district.

“We will miss Principal Lindenberg greatly,” Cole said in the release. “His leadership at Sopris Elementary has led to a strong culture among staff, students and families, and resulted in remarkable gains in the school’s school performance framework.”

The job opening will be posted later this spring.
