Suspect arrested in Rifle for fentanyl possession, sexual assault

A man accused of fentanyl possession, sexual assault an multiple other felonies was arrested in Rifle on Thursday, according to a Rifle Police Department news release.
Following an investigation that began in January 2022,, Douglas Medding Gates was booked into Garfield County Jail for a slew of charges including possession with intent to manufacture or distribute a controlled substance (fentanyl), and unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance (fentanyl).

In addition to drug-related offenses, Gates is charged with several counts related to the sexual exploitation of children. These include sexual exploitation of children (felony), patronizing a prostituted child (felony), and inducement of child prostitution (felony).
The charges continue with sexual assault where the victim is incapable.
