Former Glenwood Springs resident Thomas E. Dent, 31, died quite unexpectedly March 12, 2008.

Tommy was born Sept. 8, 1976, at Madigan Army Hospital in Fort Lewis, Wash., to Thomas E. Dent Jr. and Jacqueline Lee Kluge Dent. Although Tommy spent most of his life in Washington and Oregon, for a brief time he lived in Glenwood Springs, where he met Brenda Castine and fell in love with her. Tommy said affectionately on many occasions that they were the same person.

While living in Glenwood in 2001, Tommy patented his invention, “The Shoulder Dolly” lifting system, and he became president of his own company, TDT Moving Systems, which he began in Silt along with Tom Knipping and David Cook.

He is survived by life partner Brenda Castine; daughter Sophie Piper Dent; father; stepmother Eileen Dent; mother; sister Michelle Ives; grandfather Thomas E. Dent Sr.; and grandmother Carol Dent.

A memorial service was held March 21 in Vancouver, Wash.

Anyone wishing to make a contribution to Tom’s surviving partner and daughter may do so at P.O. Box 872438, Vancouver, WA 98687-2438.
