April Long has been named the new program director for the Western Mountain Regional Housing Coalition, according to a new release.

“I am honored that the Board selected me to help in that effort and am excited and proud to begin working on an issue that is so important to the sustainability and livelihood of our communities,” Long said. 

Long will fill the position for the newly formed nonprofit, tackling housing issues across three counties in the Roaring Fork Valley. 

“Like so many in our community, I have been impacted by the lack of affordable housing,” Long said. “That is why I am very encouraged that this coalition is aimed at producing solutions and support for one of our region’s most critical issues.” 

Long has 20-plus years of experience assisting local governments in program management. She also has five years of experience serving a board of local elected officials in the development of programs, policies and projects for the protection of local water resources.

“The board of directors of the West Mountain Regional Housing Coalition (WMRHC) is proud to announce the selection of local resident and longtime regional organizer, April Long, to assume the role of program director for the organization,” the release states. 

Long will continue to serve as the Executive Director of the Ruedi Water and Power Authority (RWAPA) alongside her new role with WMRHC. 

The West Mountain Regional Housing Coalition serves the Roaring Fork and Colorado River Valleys as a tax-exempt, Colorado nonprofit corporation with the mission to increase the availability and accessibility of affordable community housing within Pitkin, Eagle and Garfield counties.
