The Glenwood Springs Chamber Resort Association (GSCRA) Board proudly supports Ballot Measures 7A and 7C, two initiatives that align with our mission of helping business thrive and community prosper. These measures directly address three GSCRA priorities:

  • Accessible and affordable childcare
  • Workforce development and education
  • Workforce housing

We believe the best solutions come from within our community and tackle our unique challenges—exactly what these measures do.

Accessible and Affordable Childcare: Yes on 7A

Measure 7A creates a new early childhood service district from Parachute to Aspen, making childcare and preschool more accessible and affordable.

  • Funded by a 25-cent sales tax per $100 on non-essential items (items like groceries and gas are excluded).
  • Supports sliding-scale tuition for families and grants for childcare providers to expand access and increase teacher pay.

Currently, only 44% of children under age 5 have access to care in the region. Families who do find care pay an average of $17,000 per child per year, creating barriers for working parents and local businesses trying to retain employees.

Access to affordable, high-quality childcare is vital to our community. Measure 7A helps families, supports childcare providers, and strengthens the local workforce. Learn more at Yeson7a.com.

Supporting Education, Job Training and Workforce Housing Solutions: Yes on 7C

The GSCRA supports Ballot Measure 7C, a key initiative that invests in education, workforce development and workforce housing. This measure allows Colorado Mountain College (CMC) to temporarily waive its 5.25% property tax limit for ten years, without raising new taxes. This simply restores local funding flexibility voters previously approved.

Funds from 7C will support:

  • Preserving high-quality, low-cost education opportunities for local students.
  • Expanding skilled trades programs, including automotive, welding and construction.
  • Training for nurses, firefighters and first responders to meet growing healthcare and emergency service needs.
  • Housing solutions to retain local talent.

These investments build a resilient, adaptable workforce that can meet our region’s evolving needs. CMC has a strong record of fiscal responsibility and community stewardship, making it a trusted partner for these critical investments. Learn more at yes7c.com.
