Letter: Vanian deeply grasps issues and finds original solutions
I would like to encourage all of those living in Ward 3 to consider voting for Jennifer Vanian for City Council.
I have worked with Jennifer in the South Canyon Coalition to try and protect open space for future generations of Glenwood Springs.
I’ve been impressed by her ability to deeply grasp issues and come up with original solutions for problems. She’s a hard worker, a community activist and has gotten many things done for Glenwood Springs in the past like community gardens and legalizing chickens and protecting open space with no personal financial gain to herself; the benefit going to the community.
She is very well informed regarding the landfill up in South Canyon. She spent a lot of time and energy interviewing other progressive, successful recycling programs and has lots of great ideas to bring Glenwood Springs up to snuff. Foremost is making recycling and composting key issues to help the planet, reduce our carbon foot print and extend the life of our landfill.
She’s been very active in the North bridge landing planning discussions.
We need a down to earth, extremely qualified and ardent supporter of pro-planet thinking in our somewhat lopsided City Council. We have enough male input on the Council now with Shelley Kaup being the lone female voice. We need to have representation from people who have lived, raised families and were active in Glenwood’s shaping. In her case, 42 years of living in Glenwood will inform her future important decisions as to where this lovely city ends up.
Ruth Sears,
Glenwood Springs
