Opening Reception at the Carbondale Arts Gallery

What: Head to the Launchpad for the opening reception of two new solo exhibitions, “That Which Remains” by Agustina Mistretta and “Empyreal Odyssey” by Benjamin Eric. “That Which Remains” by Agustina Mistretta combines the artist’s personal and family history with found  material and a passion for topography to create “a poetic interpretation of the language of the mountains.” Meanwhile, “Empyreal Odyssey” by Benjamin Eric is an exploration of how cosmology and mythology intertwine. Inspired by historic cultural symbols and stories, the exhibition is the artist’s new narrative represented by a collection of imagery created with artifacts and various artistic mediums including recycled wood. 



When: 5-7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22. The exhibit is on display weekdays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. until Sept. 25.

Music Under the Bridge

What: Kick off your weekend with free, family-friendly concerts held underneath the Grand Avenue Bridge from 4:30-7:30 p.m. each week until late September. Feeding Giants will be featured on Aug. 22, followed by Party Party on Aug. 29. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs. 

When: Every Friday 4:30-7:30 p.m. through Sept. 26

Rifle Farmers Market

What: Rifle’s seasonal farmers market features an array of fresh products from artisan food vendors and local farms. Live music, a children’s area, playground equipment and more contribute to a family-fun outing that’s more than just a market.

When: 4-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22, Friday, Aug. 29

Where: Heinze Park, 612 Railroad Ave., Rifle

Summer Garden Par-TEA

What: This free outdoor garden party is a celebration in honor of family caregivers and their loved ones. Hosted by the Sopris Lodge, Botany Houseplant Shop, Roaring Fork Home Care and Colorado Animal Rescue, the celebration will feature live music by Rodrigo, lawn games and a raffle that supports CARE’s Seniors for Seniors program. It will also include tea sandwiches, spritzers and treats inspired by the garden. The first 75 guests will receive a free potted plant and guided tours of the community will be available. 

When: 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23

Where: Sopris Lodge at Carbondale, 295 Rio Grande Ave., Carbondale

Monday Pottery, One-Day Wheel Intro

What: Test out your pottery skills with a 2.5 hour teen and adult introduction to pottery class at the Carbondale Clay Center. The wheel introduction class, taught by rotating instructors, will cover pottery basics like centering, opening and pulling clay. 

When: 6-8:30 p.m. every Monday through Sept. 15

Where: Carbondale Clay Center, 135 Main St., Carbondale

Market on 7th

What: The farmers market is back in action in 2025 with the Market on 7th. Seventh street from Cooper to Colorado Avenues will be closed every Tuesday through Sept. 2 from 4-8 p.m., as local vendors and artists get a chance to shine. While getting the chance to support local businesses and produce, visitors will be able to enjoy live music, find homemade snacks and treats, and soak up the beautiful downtown Glenwood Springs area. 

When: 4-8 p.m. every Tuesday through Sept. 2

Sopris Lodge’s Senior Prom

What: Grab your dancing shoes and dress to impress for an unforgettable celebration of nostalgia at the Sopris Lodges’ Senior Prom. Dance to tunes spun by a live KDNK DJ, enjoy light bites and strut your stuff in the runway-style Best Dressed Contest for a chance to win a gift card. 

When: 3-4:30 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 28

Where: Sopris Lodge at Carbondale, 295 Rio Grande Ave.,Carbondale

Party at the Pavilion

What: Head to Silt for the last installation of the town’s Party at the Pavilion summer concert series, where live music, vendors and activities abound. El Loco Fandango, a ZZ top tribute band, will start the party at 5:45 p.m. followed by Hairball at 8 p.m. Attendees should bring chairs, drinks and food. No glass bottles or dogs are allowed.

True West

What: In celebration of its 30th year, the Thunder River Theatre Company’s 2025-26 season kicks off with the show that launched the now-iconic organization — “True West.” Written by Sam Shepard and directed by Missy Moore, “True West” tells the tale of a sibling rivalry and the relationship between estranged brothers Austin and Lee. “True West” runs at the Thunder River Theatre Company from Aug. 29 to Sept. 14.

When: 7:30-9:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29, Saturday, Aug. 30 and 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 31

Where: Thunder River Theatre Company, 67 Promenade, Carbondale

How much: $45 for a patron ticket. Student, industry and premium tickets are also available at thunderrivertheatre.com.
