Opening of Recording Time (with Scraps and Words), Fluid Landscapes, and Intimate. Immensity. in the Carbondale Arts Gallery
What: Visit Carbondale Arts during the October First Friday for the opening reception of three new exhibitions: “Recording Time (with Scraps and Words)” by Courtney Kenny, “Fluid Landscapes” by Michael Kinsley, and “Intimate. Immensity,” by Laura Dortmans. All three shows are on display through Oct. 30 and can be viewed at the Carbondale Arts Gallery weekdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Artful Adventures
What: Bring your child to the Glenwood Springs Community Art Center for creative adventures each early release Wednesday. Children ages 11 to 17 can learn new techniques, build their artistic skills and explore new materials throughout the 11 session program.
When: 2:30-4:30 p.m. every Wednesday from Oct. 1 to Dec. 17, except for Nov. 26.

Wild and Scenic Film Fest
What: The Wild and Scenic Film Fest returns to Garfield County as the largest annual fundraiser for the Middle Colorado Watershed Council. Enjoy inspiring films, bid in a live auction, enter prize drawings and more, all while raising money that will be used to find solutions to regional water-related issues. This year, the Watershed Council is also offering complimentary admission for teachers and middle and high school students in Districts RE-2 and G-16 with advance reservations.

116th Potato Day Parade and Community BBQ
What: Head to downtown Carbondale for the 116th Potato Day Parade and Community BBQ. Race for a bag of potatoes in the “Tator Trot” One-Mile Fun Run, cheer for floats in “The Grate Spudsby” parade, browse farmers markets stands, try some cowboy coffee and dive into a plate of community BBQ at the Community Harvest Lunch at Sopris Park.
When: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4

The Suits
What: The Suits are bringing an evening of nostalgic hit tunes from the ’50s through the ’80s to Mountain View Church during this Glenwood Springs Community Concert Association performance. Smooth choreography, clean harmonies and thrilling showmanship makes this night full of motown, doo wop pop and rock tunes one to remember.
When: 7-9 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6

October Bingo! Boo Bash
What: Join the New Castle Chamber of Commerce for an evening of community, bingo and spooky fun. Show up in your best costume to compete in the costume contest, buy spooky snacks and drinks that benefit River Center outreach programs and play bingo with a Halloween twist.
When: Doors open at 5:30 p.m., bingo begins at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 9
Where: New Castle Community Center, 423 W. Main St., New Castle
How much: Two game packs are $10, daubers are $2 and blackout cards for the night’s last game are three for $5.
The Kirstie Ennis Foundation’s Fourth Annual Oktoberfest Fundraiser
What: Enjoy live music, food, drinks and auctions at the Glenwood Springs’ Two Rivers Park. Supporting The Kirstie Ennis Foundation, the fundraiser will feature testimonials from TKEF alumni and celebrate yet another year of community support in the valley.
When: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11
Where: Two Rivers Park, 740 Devereux Road, Glenwood Springs
How much: $25 admission. Food and drinks can be purchased separately.
Laugh Your Tail Off 2025
What: Join the Journey Home Animal Care Center at its biggest — and funniest — fundraising event of the year. Enjoy food and drinks from Miner’s Claim and participate in a silent and live auction. Featuring live comedy from special guest Mike Winfield, the fundraiser supports care for animals in western Garfield County. Some adoptable animals will even be in attendance.
When: 6-9:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11
