Colorado Department of Transportation to host open house on mountain rail project
The open house comes after the state government reached a lease agreement for the Moffat Tunnel

The Colorado Department of Transportation will host an open house for northwestern Colorado to discuss updates on the state’s mountain rail project on June 18 in Fraser, according to a news release.
The meeting will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Fraser Valley Elementary School at 125 Eastom Avenue in Fraser with a live virtual option available as well, the release states. The livestream will be available at ColoradoMountainRail.org and a recording will be posted one week after the open house.
Project leaders and CDOT representatives at the open house will provide an overview of recent developments, anticipated timelines for service commencement and opportunities for public involvement as the project moves forward into its implementation phases.
The open house comes after the Colorado government and Union Pacific Railroad reached a 25-year lease and access agreement for the Moffat Tunnel, a critical step ensuring passenger rail access to mountain communities, including Winter Park, Fraser, Granby, Steamboat Springs and Craig, the release states.
