In Glenwood Springs, the Market on 7th has risen as a beacon of local commerce and community spirit. Situated underneath the Grand Avenue Bridge in Bethel Plaza, this market has flourished since its inception in 2020. Operating from 4-8 p.m. every Tuesday until Sept. 10 and featuring an eclectic mix of over 35 vendors throughout the summer season, the market offers everything from delectable foods to unique artisan products.

A beloved staple that has been part of the farmers market scene for nearly 20 years, Kugler’s Bakery has made their way to the Glenwood Springs area to share their breads and pastries with the community. Reaching 30 farmers markets a week throughout the state during the summer season, owner Will Kugler said the Market on 7th steadies near the top among his favorites.

It’s a nice little town and it is a beautiful getaway from the Denver area,” Kugler said. “Something you get here that you don’t get at many other farmers markets is you see a lot of tourists. It is interesting to chat with them while also seeing a bunch of familiar faces.”

The market’s charm lies in its variety as well as its vibrant atmosphere. Market manager Chrissy Lee-Manes emphasized the unique setting.

“We have about 36 vendors this season, and the environment under the bridge creates a special ambiance with great lighting and music,” she said. “There is something for everyone here and the atmosphere being next to Restaurant Row makes it so lively.”

Art enthusiasts can delight in the offerings from authors, artists, farmers, jewelers and more while indulging in live music from a different band each week.

Painter Olivia Busby, who set up her tent Bee Witched only a few years ago, said the farmers market has given her a chance to expand her brand.

“I started painting about 10 years ago for fun, and it turns out I was kind of good at it,” Busby said. “This market gave me the courage to sell my art.”

Originally from Alabama, Busby now lives in Glenwood Springs and loves sharing her creations with the community.

“There’s always something special at this market,” She added. “It is an incredible atmosphere and a great way to support local businesses on a Tuesday night.”

The market also plays a vital role in the social lives of local residents. Kaylen and Brenton Otis are frequent visitors who relish the communal atmosphere.

“It’s been our Tuesday date night ever since we moved here a few years ago.” Brenton said. “Each year it gets bigger and it gets better. It’s great to see what’s new each Tuesday and to get to be able to spend some time in a community environment.”

Each week, the market features a unique food truck and fresh, live music, enhancing the lively atmosphere.

“It’s great to have different food options and quality entertainment,” Lee-Manes said. “For those who keep coming back each week, we don’t want them to feel like it is always the same, so we are really looking forward to this year.”
