Obituary: Darrell Buchanan

Darrell Buchanan, of Cortez, Colorado, passed away at HopeWest Hospice in Grand Junction, Colorado, on August 8, 2025, at the age of 56.

Darrell was born on February 6, 1969, in Durango, Colorado, to Jay Buchanan and Barbara (Weber) Randall. He spent his childhood in Leadville, Colorado, and attended high school in Rifle, Colorado. After graduating, Darrell attended San Juan Basin Vocational Technical School, where he earned a degree in Automobile Mechanics. He went on to work in the oilfield pipeline industry.

On October 27, 1990, Darrell married the love of his life, Lisa, in Mancos, Colorado. Together they raised three sons: Seth, Kyle, and Ryan.

Darrell is survived by his loving wife, Lisa; their three sons; his parents, Jay and Barbara; and his sisters, Tina Sandoval of Yuma, AZ, Katie Dolif of Westminster, CO, and Callie Turk of Eckert, CO. He is also survived by one grandchild, Bentley Hess. He was preceded in death by Launa Buchanan, Don Randall and his father-in-law, Leonard Wright.
