May 18, 1939 – March 26, 2026

Jim Yoast, a very special one of a kind man went to be with Jesus on March 26, 2026. James Brian Yoast was born on May 18, 1939 in Hayden, Colorado to Gilbert and Elna and was the first of 7 children. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Jody, Linda, Marian and brother Frank. Surviving relatives are his wife of 65 years, Sharon, three children Sharan (Donald), Donald (Terry), and David (Kai), three grandchildren Trisha (Johnny), Trevor (Kara), and Koa (Emily), 6 great grandchildren (Bryce, Aryca, Leighton, Lacey, Lynnlee, and Leilani) sister Bett, brother Bill, and many nieces and nephews.
“Yoasty” was employed by the Colorado Department of Transportation mostly in the Glenwood Springs/Rifle area and retired after 32 years of service. He had a magic touch with heavy equipment and seemed to operate just about anything with ease. His favorite job was plowing snow. After retirement, he kept himself busy with odd jobs and “puttering” about the house. One of his favorite activities was riding snowmobiles on the flat tops which he finally had to give up at the young age of 83. He also enjoyed being involved with the Rifle Snowmobile Club and helping to groom the trails that he rode on.
Jim and Sharon lived in Peach Valley for almost 50 years until recently moving to Arkansas to be closer to their daughter and her family. He always loved the mountains and will be laid to rest back in Colorado. Always quick with a joke or a smile, he will be missed greatly.
