Obituary: Joseph Leroy Bair

Joseph Leroy Bair, 92, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2025, in Grand Junction, Colorado, surrounded by his family.
Born March 8, 1933, in Alpine, Utah, to Joseph LeRoy and Lila Isabella Healey Bair, Joseph was the youngest of seven children. He endured early hardships, including the loss of his mother at age 10, and worked on farms and ranches in Utah, Montana, Canada, and Oregon.
He served honorably in the U.S. Navy from 1951–1955 during the Korean War. Over the years, he worked as a heavy equipment operator, horse wrangler, coal miner, and maintenance technician.
On August 28, 1954, Joseph married Christine Lindsay in Las Vegas, Nevada; their marriage was later solemnized in the Mesa Arizona Temple. Together, they raised seven children and built a lasting family legacy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, daughter Michelle Rose Bair, daughter-in-law Irma Rachelle Smith, and grandson Levi Golden Bair. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Christine; children Louise (Britt) Gibson, Joseph (Debra) Bair, Michael Bair, Bruce (Camille) Bair, Carter (Sara) Bair, and Jay (Julisa) Bair; son-in-law Fred Jarvis; 23 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the Alpine Utah Ward, 165 N 100 E, Alpine, Utah, on 9/20/2025. Viewing at 10 a.m., service at 11 a.m., interment at Alpine City Cemetery at noon, followed by a family luncheon at the church.
