Life with Lee was never ordinary, more like extraordinary. Our 40 years together were rich with so much love, lots of laughter and so many shared times and experiences that were the richest part of our marriage. As a husband he was the best partner, my best friend: generous in love, spirit, kindness and support with empathy for anyone who needed him. His absence feels surreal though his presence is always here.
His Chicago family has predeceased him as well as 5 puppies waiting at the Rainbow Bridge for him. He leaves behind his wife Deborah Barnekow; daughter Heather (Jim); granddaughters, Amanda (Daniel), Krystal (Kyle), Jenny (David); and 8 great-grandchildren.
This is a tribute for Lee who was always there for us all, a true friend. For me, the ache of his loss is deep but so is the gratitude for every moment we shared. I carry his love forward-something to share with all who knew and loved him. He was a true partner in life and his memory I carry in my heart. Always. Cremation has taken place. Please take a moment to remember him fondly. And smile.
