Mike, Papa, Old Man, Sawyer could tell stories like no one else and laughed until he cried while telling them. From gluing his dad’s hands to the steering wheel, blowing up the paint shed, putting a pig in a college president’s office, his humor was never ending. Mike grew up in Sheridan, Wyoming. He married Darby Keck in 1972. They have three daughters, Kerri ( Andy), Stephanie, (Jeremy), and Jennifer (Donovan) and five grandchildren, Russell, Payton, Maclyn, Bailey, and Tristan. Mike is also survived by his siblings TG Sawyer, Randy Sawyer, and Dana Wyatt. Mike loved the Lord, his family and golfing. Mike was a facilities director for several different colleges, University of Wyoming, Bowling Green State University, Buena Vista College, Colorado Mountain College, and Casper College. He retired in 2018 to build a cabin near Cripple Creek, Colorado. In 2022 he and Darby moved to Battlement Mesa, Colorado where he worked for Battlement Mesa Golf Course, and as facilities manager for the Grand Valley Historical Society. Most days he could be found with a golf club in his hands and a smile on his face or helping friends and neighbors with home repairs. Mike loved spending time with his girls and grandchildren, golfing, fishing, hiking, listening to music, and always laughing. His smile, laugh, and sarcastic wit will be missed by all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will be held At Grace Bible Church in Battlement Mesa, Colorado on June 18, 2024 at 10:00 a.m.
