The Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park was temporarily closed down by police activity on Saturday morning after a body was found prior to opening the park, according to the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office.

Garfield County Public Information Officer Walt Stowe said police are investigating the matter as a possible suicide. The incident was reported shortly after 9 a.m., he said.

“There is no threat to the public at this time,” he said.

Glenwood Caverns called EMS to the park early Saturday morning, the park said in a Saturday night statement.

“The Park was closed today, Oct. 28, and will remain closed tomorrow as authorities continue their investigation,” the Caverns said in the statement.

On Sunday, a news release from the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the park will remain closed for the time being.

“The fact that there was entry into the park by an unauthorized individual after hours makes it important that the investigators not only address and identify the deceased individual but determine his probable cause of death pending a final report from the County Coroner,” the release states. “In the interest of public safety, the investigators will also try to retrace the steps the intruder followed while in the park to assure that none of the equipment, buildings or rides have been tampered with.”
