The Coal Ridge Titans varsity football team found the win column for the first time of the 2025-26 year after hosting the Cedaredge Bruins last Friday.

The 1-1 Titans, led by senior quarterback Dylan Miller and senior defensive end Kai Oesterle, put together a complete game of football on Friday night, destroying the Bruins 42-6.

The Titans lit up every section of the scoresheet, packing it with names and showing the impact all 11 players had on both sides of the ball during Friday night’s win.

Miller threw for 233 yards on his home field, finding the endzone twice in the win. The senior quarterback found seven different receivers throughout the offensive onslaught — including seniors Evan Dujka and Diego Gamez — both of whom brought in three catches for over 60 yards and a touchdown.

On the defensive side of the ball, Oesterle took down the quarterback three times, was responsible for half a tackle-for-loss, and forcing a fumble. Junior defensive back Marcus Munoz recorded two pick-six interceptions during the win.

After getting even at .500, the Titans will look to build off the blowout momentum as they travel to Grand Valley to take on the 0-2 Cardinals on Friday.

The Rifle Bears varsity football team are still searching for their first win of the 2025-26 campaign after falling to the Basalt Longhorns Sept. 5 on the road.

The Bears’ schedule isn’t doing them too many favors as Rifle will travel to Delta to take on the hardnosed Panthers on Friday night. They will continue their road trip the week after when they travel to Roosevelt to take on the Roughriders in pursuit of their first win.

The Glenwood Springs Demons fell to a 1-2 record on Sept. 6 after traveling to Greeley to take on the Northridge Grizzlies. The defensive slugfest ended with 13 total points scored as the Demons struggled to get anything rolling offensively.

After the 7-6 road loss to the Grizzlies, the Demons will look to rebound Friday night when they host Basalt, the 2-1 Longhorns who reached last season’s Class 2A semifinals.

The Grand Valley Cardinals are lost at sea — similar to the Rifle Bears — and are still searching for their first win of the season. After falling to the Ellicott Wolverines 28-6 last Friday, the Cardinals will host their Interstate 70 rival in the Coal Ridge Titans. The Cardinals, who have six points to their name this season, will look for an offensive spark when they welcome in the Titans on Friday.

After running into a small speed bump at the beginning of September, the Rifle Bears varsity softball team has hit the gas once again.

The 8-4 girls are rolling through any competition they come face to face with. After returning from the Front Range tournament with a record of 3-1, destroying teams from Longmont and Poudre in the process, the girls hosted the Eagle Valley Devils, shutting them out 6-0 on Tuesday.

The Rifle Bears varsity softball team has only allowed one run over the past 12 innings of ball they have played. The Bears look to continue that dominance as they travel to Battle Mountain Thursday night seeking their ninth victory of the season.

After going 1-2 over their past three games, and dropping two straight to tough Western Slope opponents, the Rifle Bears varsity soccer team is searching to get back in the win column against a tough league opponent.

The 3-2 Bears, 1-0 in league play, traveled to Carbondale to take on their second 3A Western Slope League opponent of the year.

They will meet up against the 1-1 Roaring Fork Rams, who are coming off an extended rest period. The Rams, who haven’t played a game since hosting the Basalt Longhorns on Sept. 3, will welcome in their first league opponent of the season.

The 2-1-1 Coal Ridge Titans, who jumped out to a hot start, cooled off over their past two games. Over their past two matchups, the Titans tied the DSST: Conservatory Green Hornets 0-0, and then fell to the Kent Denver Sun Devils 3-0. The Titans are searching to get back into the win column when they travel to face the Grand Junction Central Warriors on Saturday morning.

A 2-3 overall record, 0-2 in 4A Western Slope League, the Glenwood Springs Demons boys soccer team are climbing their way back towards .500 after taking down the Palisade Bulldogs 5-1 on their home turf on Tuesday. They will look to continue that momentum as the season finds its groove. They traveled to Grand Junction on Thursday to take on the 4-0 Tigers.

After a slow start to the season, the Grand Valley Cardinals are in the win column for the first time of their 2025 campaign, and the win couldn’t have come at a better time. After taking down the Moffat County Bulldogs 2-1, the Cardinals are now leading the 2A Western Slope — North league. The 1-2-1 Cardinals will look to build off the win when they host the Caprock Academy Eagles next Wednesday.

After a slow start to the Roaring Fork Rams varsity girls’ volleyball season, the 2-6 Rams are starting to find a groove. The girls have won their past two matchups — first against the Vail Mountain Rangers at home, and then taking down the Basalt Longhorns in a hostile gym.

After two impressive wins, the girls were traveling with confidence when they made their way down to Grand Junction on Thursday afternoon to take on the 2-4 Grand Junction Tigers.

The Glenwood Springs Demons volleyball team have been in their groove all season long. After a 3-0 start, the Demons hiccuped against the Mullen Mustangs before finding another three game win streak, most recently taking down the Aspen Skiers at home on Tuesday night. The 6-1 girls are looking to make that four when they host the 1-4 Rifle Bears, who are off this week, next Wednesday.

The Coal Ridge Titans have found a rhythm since starting the season 3-2. The month of September has been kind to the Titans. The Coal Ridge team hasn’t lost this month as they took down the Cedaredge Bruins 3-0 at home and then traveled to Delta to give the Panthers the same medicine.

The girls were looking to make two into three when they hosted the North Fork Miners Thursday night.

The 2-6 Grand Valley Cardinals had a full plate on Thursday night, as the 5-1 Aspen Skiers made their way down to Parachute to take on the Cardinals.

Cross Country

The Grand Valley Cross Country Invitational was a special opportunity for Coal Ridge runners to show that last season’s Track and Field success wasn’t just a fluke.

Coal Ridge’s boys and girls varsity cross country teams both took home first place at the county line trailhead on Grand Mesa.

Cross Country is a team sport judged through individual performances. The amount of high finishers a specific team has directly equates to how many points each team is awarded, and the team with the least amount of points at the end of the meet is the victor.

The Coal Ridge Titans girls, led by first place finisher junior Effie Fletcher (20:38.9), third place finisher, senior Faye Goodman (23.57.6), and fifth place finisher freshman Adalyn Nunn (24:17.4), finished the meet in first place with 15 points.

The Coal Ridge boys, led by senior fifth place finisher Jesse Richel (21:37.0) and senior eighth place finisher Owen Evans (21.54.5) finished in first with 47 points.

The Glenwood Springs and Grand Valley cross country teams also participated in the Grand Mesa Invitational. The Demons girls, featuring the 11th place finisher freshman Josephine Ravenschlag (25:10.8) finished in fifth place with 74 points.

The Demons boys running team, featuring the second place finisher Diego Ostorga Torres (20.50.5) finished in seventh place with 119 points. The Grand Valley Cardinals boys cross country team finished with 177 points in 10th place.

The Rifle Bears, who hosted the tournament, finished 15th.

Both teams are looking to build off of the experience at Rifle Creek and take it into their next meet — hosted at the Keystone Ranch Golf Course on Thursday morning.

The Bears will reset over the weekend before traveling to Moffat County — playing the Yampah Valley Golf Course on Monday before traveling to Steamboat Springs on Tuesday to play the Haymaker Golf Course.

The Bears will meet the Titans in Steamboat, who will be waiting to participate alongside schools like Aspen, Basalt, Battle Mountain, Eagle Valley and more.
