Roaring Fork Community Education Association endorses Nimmo, Kuhlenberg for school board

The Roaring Fork Community Education Association, which represents more than 200 educators across the Roaring Fork School District, has endorsed Tamara Nimmo in District A and Kathryn Kuhlenberg in District E for the district’s Board of Education races, according to a Tuesday news release.
The association is a local affiliate of the Colorado Education Association and the National Education Association. According to the group, its mission is to “lead the way in guaranteeing every student access to the best public education” by working collectively with teachers, families and community stakeholders.
“Tammy Nimmo is a dedicated and deeply involved community member whose long-standing service within Roaring Fork schools demonstrates her steadfast commitment to students, families and educators,” the association stated in its release. “Her firsthand experience in classrooms across the valley gives her a clear understanding of the successes and challenges facing our schools.”
The association also said Nimmo’s support for funding measures like ballot initiative 7A shows she is ready to advocate for “the wages, housing and classroom resources that teachers and students need to thrive.”
Of Kuhlenberg, the association said, “Kathryn brings invaluable experience, steady leadership and a tireless commitment to the Roaring Fork School District, making her the clear choice for continued service on the school board.”
The group highlighted Kuhlenberg’s leadership during “unprecedented challenges,” including the district’s recent financial hurdles, and praised her background in child psychology, education policy and law. “Her focus on learning outcomes ensures that she will continue to advocate for equitable, research-based policy and support for classrooms,” the release stated.
Kuhlenberg, who served as board president until stepping down from that role in June, remains on the board and is seeking re-election to her District E seat.
The Roaring Fork School District Board of Education election is Tuesday, Nov. 4.
