On Tuesday, Sept. 16, Rockstar Energy and Breckenridge Ski Resort announced the debut of the Rockstar Energy Open snowboarding event.

Taking place from Dec. 19-21, the three-day festival will combine world-class snowboarding competitions with live music, art installations and an interactive fan village. The free and open event is an expansion of Rockstar’s successful skateboarding events that feature elite pros and rising stars.

The inaugural snowboarding event will include both men’s and women’s divisions. Notable athletes that will be in attendance include Silverthorne resident and Olympic gold medalist Red Gerard, Colorado native Nik Baden and fan-favorite Iris Pham.

The Rockstar Energy Open will also unveil a new rider-designed course that will be created in partnership with Snow Park Technologies and the Breckenridge Terrain Park crew. The competition venue will feature a unique multi-terrain setup that is unlike traditional slopestyle, halfpipe or big air formats.

The Rockstar Energy Open is expected to bring together more than 60 of the top snowboarders, including the top 10 men and women selected through the event’s video qualifying series (VQS). In the lead-up to the live event, the VQS offers riders around the world the opportunity to compete alongside invited pros by submitting their best video parts on Platfrm channels between Oct. 27 and Nov. 23.

A panel of veteran freestyle snowboard judges will judge the submissions, awarding weekly cash prizes for standout video parts, including best men’s part, best women’s part, best trick, and a viewer’s choice award based on fan votes. For official rules and submission details, visit ThePlatfrm.com.

The Rockstar Energy Open will coincide with Breck’s Ullr Fest, a 60+ year-old, winter celebration that features the world’s longest shotski, a town parade and a massive community bonfire. Like Ullr Fest, the Rockstar Energy Open will be free and open to the public, with VIP upgrades available for those seeking an elevated experience.

The event will also take place at the same time as 2025 Toyota U.S. Grand Prix at Copper Mountain from Dec. 17 through Dec. 20. The World Cup event will showcase the top freeski and snowboard halfpipe athletes as they prepare for the 2026 Winter Olympics.

Fans worldwide can catch all of the action at the Rockstar Energy Open via more than 10 hours of livestream across ThePlatfrm.com, FuelTV and other global platforms. More details related to live music, invited athletes and additional sponsors will be released in the future.
