Two Rivers Connect launches pilot Way to Roll program

Two Rivers Connect is launching its Way to Roll pilot program in August, encouraging residents, commuters, employers and visitors in the Colorado River and Roaring Fork valleys to explore new ways of getting around, according to a news release. Participants can bike, walk, ride the bus, carpool, vanpool, or work from home — and earn rewards for shifting even one trip per week.
The growing prize list, donated by local businesses and organizations, includes e-bikes, ski lift tickets, paragliding flights, hot springs passes and more.
The campaign comes at a time when traffic throughout the region continues to climb, according to the release. In June 2025, Glenwood Springs saw an average of 29,375 vehicles passing through the city daily — a record high. Each month of 2025 has broken previous traffic records, putting the city on track for its highest Average Annual Daily Traffic ever, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT).
Traffic increases extend beyond Glenwood Springs: over the past decade, traffic has risen 33% on Interstate 70 west of Silt and 23% on Colorado 82 at South Glen Avenue. On average, 22,000 vehicles drove through Snowmass Canyon daily in 2024.
“Two Rivers Connect is a unique chance for people to identify and try travel options that might work into their daily lives and earn prizes while at it,” said Dova Castaneda Zilly, CLEER Regional Clean Mobility Program Manager, in the release. . “Whether you’re commuting to work, heading to the river, or running errands, small changes — even just one day a week — in how people get around can go a long way toward improving the collective experience of moving throughout the Colorado River and Roaring Fork valleys.”
How it works
Beginning Aug. 4, participants can log their trips via the Two Rivers Connect app or website to earn rewards. The platform allows users to explore public transit and bike options, compare time and cost with driving, and match with others to share trips.
The platform will remain active year-round, with additional campaigns planned for late 2025 and 2026 to address traffic during peak ski season.
How to participate
- Sign up for Two Rivers Connect
- Download the app (available Aug. 4) or visit the website
- Try a new way to roll and log trips when you bike, walk, bus, carpool, vanpool or work remotely
- Connect with a carpool as a rider or driver
- Earn prizes such as e-bikes, lift tickets, gift cards and more
Employers are encouraged to join as part of the Employer Network to access additional incentives and tools to support workforce commuting needs. Participating employers already include Valley View Hospital, Garfield Public Libraries, the City of Glenwood Springs, the Third Street Center, Aspen School District, Aspen Skiing Company and the City of Aspen.
