Art in the Stacks: Glenwood Springs Art Guild

What: Visit the Glenwood Springs Branch Library and enjoy art created by members of the Glenwood Springs Art Guild at the “Anything Goes” exhibit. Featuring over 30 works from local artists, the exhibit will be on display during normal branch hours through May 15. Attendees can vote for their favorite pieces and winning artists will receive an award in honor of late guild member Dot Mulligan.

When: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday – Thursday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday; 1-5 p.m. Sunday through May 15

Live Music at El Dorado ft. Vespertinesbaby

What: Spend an evening at El Dorado in Carbondale and experience the DJ stylings of Vespertinesbaby. Raised on the east coast, Vespertinesbaby (also known as Sadie) creates ethereal, genre-crossing sets that combine hyperpop, eurodance, techno and triphop. 

When: 8-10 p.m. Saturday, April 11

Where: El Dorado, 358 Main St., Carbondale 

How much: Free 

Fourth Annual Stroll for Joel Fundraiser

What: Honor Joel Shute, who lost his life in an avalanche in March 2023, and others who have died while adventuring at the Fourth Annual Stroll for Joel Fundraiser. The event features a costume contest, memorial party and hangout at Sunlight Mountain Resort. Todd’s Tavern will open at 11 a.m. and live music by the Jeff Rice Trio will start at 1 p.m. All proceeds will benefit the Colorado Avalanche Information Center, West Elks Search and Rescue and the Sunlight Ski Patrol. 

When: 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 12 

Where: Sunlight Mountain Resort, 10901 County Rd. 117, Glenwood Springs

Lena Marie Schiffer & Ani Casabonne at Steve’s Guitars

What: Celebrate the release of Lena Marie Schiffer’s newest album, “House of Sky,” with an intimate performance at Steve’s Guitars featuring Schiffer and Ani Casabonne. Singer-songwriter Schiffer blends folk, indie and Americana influences to create heart-tugging pieces fueled by powerful storytelling. Classically trained violinist Cassabonne will be joining Schiffer for Sunday’s performance. 

When: 6:30-8:30 p.m. Sunday, April 12

Where: Steve’s Guitars, 19 N. Fourth St., Carbondale

Art Spotlight Tour

What: Join the Powers Art Center staff for a guided tour of the exhibits, followed by an art-making activity in the Learning Lab. 

When: 4-5 p.m. Wednesday, April 15

Where: Powers Art Center, 13110 CO-82, Carbondale

How much: Free

Bingo

What: Head to the Glenwood Springs Elks Lodge for a family-friendly bingo night. Seniors, adults, teens and children eight years and older can play early bird bingo starting at 6:30 p.m. for $1 per card, or join in a regular bingo game at 7 p.m. for $10 for six games. Concessions, including burgers, hot dogs and fries, will be served at 5:30 p.m.

When: 6-8:30 p.m. every Thursday 

Where: BPOE Elks #2286, 51939 U.S. Highway 6 and 24, Glenwood Springs

How much: $1 per sheet for early bird games, $10 for six regular games.

On display in the Carbondale Arts Gallery

What: Stop by the Carbondale Arts Gallery for the opening reception of two new exhibitions: “Material Haiku MMXXVI” by Gaby Oshiro and “Kindred Spirits” by Christine Anderson and Benjamin Strawn. In “Material Haiku MMXXVI,” Oshiro plays with the balance between subtraction and addition, destruction and creation and chaos and order. In “Kindred Spirits,” ceramic artist Anderson and abstract painter Strawn explore their shared creative visions and 40 year friendship. The exhibitions open with a reception on Friday, April 17 and run through May 21.
