Spring Swing SITV Golf Tournament

What: Symphony in the Valley is hosting their first annual Spring Swing Golf Tournament at Lakota Canyon Golf Club. All proceeds directly benefit Symphony in the Valley’s mission to enrich the valley’s communities with live orchestral music and support musicians within those communities. Please join for special contests, live music and a catered lunch in the clubhouse after the tournament. 

When: 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.,Friday, May 23.

Glenwood Art Festival

What: The Glenwood Art Festival is the annual art and craft show featuring an impressive array of original handcrafted artwork. This three day event is free and showcases local and national artists representing a wide array of mediums. In addition to crafty vendors, there will be free live music and family fun. This event will be in downtown Glenwood Springs, a walkable destination. 

When: 11-7 p.m., Saturday, May 23, and Sunday, May 24; 11-5 p.m., Monday, May 25.

Where: Bethel Plaza under the bridge, Seventh St., Glenwood Springs

Cost: Free to attend


Youth Arts Showcase

What: Carbondale Arts presents the Youth Arts Showcase at the Carbondale Arts Gallery. This exhibition features works produced from two local programs: The Carbondale Arts Creative Apprentice Program employs teens to work with local creative professionals to develop works of community value while gaining exposure to and experience in contemporary creative professions. The Stepping Stones Artist Residency Program offers culturally-responsive, bilingual arts programming for youth. This exhibition will be on display through June 26 with an opening reception on June’s First Friday 5-7 p.m. 

When: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday May 23 through June 26.

Where: Carbondale Arts Gallery at 76 South Fourth St., Carbondale

The Rhythm of Reflection: Sage VOICES Theatre Project

What: VOICES invites the community to this original theatre piece and intergenerational collaboration of Sage storytellers, aged 75 and up, and Youth performers, aged 12-15. The Sage VOICES Project amplifies the voices of the Sages in our community through the eyes of the Youth. Sages and Youth engage in the process of devised theater to co-create an original theater piece inspired by their own stories. Through this process, the Sages and Youth form enduring relationships, spark each other’s creative spirit, and relish in the playfulness. The intergenerational ensemble explores possibilities of artistic collaborations through spoken words, movements, music and theater making. This project was directed by Tom Cochran.

When: 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, May 23 and 24; 2 p.m., Sunday, May 25.

Where: Thunder River Theatre Company at 67 Promenade, Carbondale

Cost: $25 ticket or pay what you can for donation.


Community Lunch at Highwater Farm

What: The community is invited to our annual Community Lunch. This event celebrates the Summer Youth Program at Highwater Farm where teens aged 14-17 learn how to plant and maintain crops, sell produce and participate in community events. The Community Lunch features a meal prepared by Tiffany and Joey of The Farmer and Chef, using fresh produce from the farm. There will be farm tours starting at 11 a.m. and lunch is served at noon. There will be speeches from youth and staff. Highwater Farm is looking forward to sharing this milestone of their program with you.

When: 11 a.m., Saturday, May 24

Ladies’ Bike Kick Off Night

What: Come join for a fun evening at Cripple Creek Bike & Backcountry in Carbondale. This event is being hosted by Cripple Creek, Aspen Expeditions and Tit’s Deep for Breast Cancer. You might have joined the popular Backcountry Kick Off Night this year, and this is the summer and bike equivalent. Meet ladies in the Valley who bike (road, gravel, mtb; all are welcome and at all levels), shop discounts on bike accessories and apparel, have some snacks and beverages, learn about trails and routes and bike groups in the Valley, and get inspired together watching some women’s bike films. Bring your own camping chair. 

When: 5:30 p.m., Friday, May 30
