Garfield Re-2 school board race draws 3 candidates
The Garfield Re-2 School District will have two school board seats on the ballot for the Nov. 4, 2025 election, the district announced Thursday.
The openings are in Director District A, currently held by Megan Heil, and Director District E, held by Scott Bolitho. Candidates this year include Steven Beaulieu for District E, along with Darlane Evans and Heil for District A.
Any eligible voter living within the school district boundaries may cast one vote for a candidate in each director district.
Evans and Heil have run before. Heil was appointed to the the District A seat in August after the abrupt departure of former Board President Britton Fletchall in June. Evans currently works for the Colorado River and Rio Blanco BOCES, while Heil is retired from the Colorado Department of Corrections and co-owns Blue Creek Homebuyers in Rifle.
“I am always happy when citizens put their name into the ring for positions, especially when we have contested races because that means citizens want to be engaged in their community,” Garfield Re-2 Director of Communications Theresa Hamilton said. “Take an active role and vote, sometimes off year elections are overlooked.”
Each candidate submitted at least 50 petition signatures from registered district voters, which were verified by Garfield Re-2 Election Official Sharon Donohoue.
