The Carbondale Education Foundation (CEF) announced Tuesday that it will provide  $60,000 School Supply Grants to all public schools in Carbondale for the 2026-27 school year.

The grants provide schools with flexible resources to purchase classroom supplies and instructional materials that directly support student learning. Awards were based on school size according to a news release from the foundation. 

Roaring Fork High School, Carbondale Middle School and Crystal River Elementary School will each receive $15,000. Bridges High School, Carbondale Community School and Ross Montessori School will each receive $5,000. 

“We are pleased to be able to support our public schools at this level this year,” Carbondale Education Foundation President Jamie Nims said in the release. “These funds make a real difference for our students, teachers, and schools.”

Roaring Fork School District Superintendent Anna Cole said the donation further emphasizes how the community can positively impact the local school district. 

“We are so grateful for the support of the Carbondale Education Foundation,” Cole said in the release. “We have done a great job balancing budgets to ensure schools are well-resourced, and this additional funding from our community takes some of the pressure off school budgets and enables schools to stretch their dollars even further in support of student learning.”

The $60,000 represents a significant expansion of the nonprofit’s School Supply Grant program. In 2025, the foundation awarded $32,500 in School Supply Grants. 

The expansion was made possible by a $60,000 matching gift from Ann and Mark Gianinetti, according to the release. The contribution will also provide matching funds for the foundation’s Teacher Grant and Experiential Learning Grant programs.

Community members are invited to help expand the CEF’s new efforts and will match every dollar donated to the School Supply Fund, Teacher Grant Fund, and Experiential Grant Fund up to the first $20,000 in each fund.
