Charles, who went by Chuck or Charlie to those who knew him, passed away suddenly on July 7th, 2025, in Collbran, Colorado at the age of 70. He was born to Clifford and Mary Ellen Held on March 21st, 1955, in Collbran, Colorado. He spent most of his life in the Roaring Fork Valley, where he graduated from Basalt High School, made a career as a Master Electrician, and raised his family. Chuck was a hardworking, intelligent, funny, kind-hearted, honest, and sincere man. He was a true outdoorsman who loved to hike, hunt, fish, explore, and enjoy all that nature has to offer. His craftsmanship and artistic talent were something to be admired. He was incredibly talented with Taxidermy as well as tying flies. His talents also included constructing magnificent pieces from antlers and wildlife paintings. Throughout his life, he enjoyed gardening, rock hunting, fermenting, hunting, and fishing. His biggest joy was spending time with his family and dogs. He was an exceptional man, a wonderful father and grandfather, and he will be deeply missed.
Charles Held is survived by his son, Chad Held (Mandy), and his daughter, Katy Held. His cherished grandchildren, Annika Wangsnes, Lexi Bingham, Hudson Wangsnes, and Cort Held. He is also survived by his sister, Becky Warner, and brother, Randy Held. He was proceeded in death by his father Clifford Held and mother, Mary Ellen (Gitchell) Held.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, August 2nd, at the Mesa Community Center in Mesa, Colorado at 1pm.
