Dawn Ingrid Elizabeth Triplat, known to all as Ingrid, was born December 14, 1940, in the gold mining town of Kirkland Lake, Ontario, Canada, and passed away in an automobile accident in New Castle, Colorado, on May 27, 2025.
Ingrid arrived on the Western Slope of Colorado during the oil shale boom of the late 1970s and early 1980s. The always stylish Ingrid saw many parts of the world, but it was on Colorado’s Western Slope that she found her true home. She loved the land, and the lifestyle. Ingrid often said she had everything she wanted right here.
She began her career in the healthcare field at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, where she registered as a radiology technician. Later in life, Ingrid returned to school to earn her bachelor’s degree, and in doing so, discovered her true calling in sales. With grit, determination, and an entrepreneurial spirit, she built a successful real estate career and pursued a number of other ventures with passion and drive.
Ingrid was a devoted Christian whose faith guided her life. She converted to Catholicism later in life and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Silt, Colorado. She had a fierce love for life—full of humor, generosity, and resilience. She was an avid cat lover, a loyal and giving friend, and someone who loved laughter as much as she loved those around her.
She was the proud mother of two children, Clyde and Kristine, who were the light of her life, and a loving stepmother to Angie. Ingrid loved visits with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Ingrid also cherished the outdoors and shared a deep love of adventure with her husband, Tom. Together, they enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing, sailing, and exploring nature wherever they could.
Ingrid was preceded in death by her beloved son Clyde Hancock (Michelle) in 2018. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Tom Triplat; her daughter Kristine Hancock Martinez (Tony); her stepdaughter Angie Triplat; her brother Kristopher Knutsen of Thunder Bay, Ontario; her sister Mary Ramanciauskas of Prince George, British Columbia; her brother Peter Roberts of Houston, British Columbia; her grandsons Sydney Hawkins and Bradley Hancock; and two great-grandchildren.
Ingrid’s ashes were lovingly scattered in Colorado, near her son’s resting place. A celebration of her life will be announced at a later date.
