October 14, 1953 – February 9, 2025

Our husband, father, brother, uncle and friend passed away at home on February 9, surrounded by his family. He was 71.

The oldest of four siblings, John Clark, Jr. was born in Fort Collins, Colorado to Vivian and John Clark, Sr. He spent his formative years growing up in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, where he participated in track, football and various clubs. He then earned his B.S. in Geophysical Engineering from Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colorado.

His engineering career took him to Pittsburgh, where he met the love of his life. He and Leslie Miller were married on September 6th, 1980. They eventually made their home in Traverse City, Michigan where John ran his companies, Bay Geophysical and Corona Resources, while they raised their three children.

John is remembered for his intellect, generosity, confidence and character. He faced the neurological disease that took his life with the same bravery and courage that defined him throughout his time on earth. He worked hard at everything he did, was dependable for all, and was known as the guy who could fix anything. He was generous with his time and resources, and was always there to offer a helping hand. John was both fun and funny, and will be remembered for his booming laugh. His hobbies included hunting, indulging in his love for fishing and honing his skills as a martial artist; he mastered both Kenpo and Selat, and held a black belt in Taekwondo. Above all, he loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by and will be forever missed by his wife Leslie, daughters Mara (Chris Bonkowski) and Mandy, son Troy, sisters Chris Hanneman and Mary (Todd) Ballard, in-laws Lori (Mark) Acree, Shelley (Kevin) McCague, D.L. (Jeannie) Miller and a plethora of loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Ben.

A funeral Mass was held on Saturday, February 22 at 11:00 am, Christ the King Catholic Church, 3802 Shore Rd, Williamsburg, Michigan.
